Central Park in New York is probably the most famous city park in the world. Seen from a bird's eye view, its dimensions never cease to amaze. If you enter it, you could easily get lost in it if the buildings around you didn't serve as signposts.
Its history begins with the first draft of the New York Grid, the plan for a rectangular street network that would cover the entire city of Manhattan.
Central Park has experienced highs and lows in its more than 150 years of existence and has a lot to offer in terms of stories and anecdotes, as do the houses that line it and the people who lived in them. It is always worth starting or ending a New York city tour here.
The Central Park tour begins with some details about the history of New York, without which Central Park cannot be "understood".
You will hear from people who lived in this area before Central Park was Central Park and from people who were and are connected to "their" park and continue to shape it to this day.
One of the most famous is certainly John Lennon, who lived in the Dakota Building on the west side of the park.
On December 8, 1980, he was shot at the south entrance. Yoko Ono had his ashes scattered in Central Park, at the place where a section of the park is now dedicated to his memory: Strawberry Fields.
And of course there are a thousand other exciting and funny stories that took place here, such as the one about the Central Park Zoo and how it got its animals. And along the way we pass by well-known film locations, including "Home Alone 2" and "Sex and the City."
