Gangs of New York
We walk through Chinatown and Little Italy, the formerFive Points, a dark area with a relevant past.
Where the Chinese neighborhood now meets in Columbus Park, New York's most notorious criminal district used to be: Five Points. This is where New York's gangs were found and where the organized crime of the American-Italian mafia had its origins. Al Capone was a member of the Five Points Gang, to name just one example.
How did such a concentration of violence and crime come about? What was life like back then? Who were the people pulling the strings and what role did politics play?
On this tour through today's Chinatown and Little Italy, we trace the development of this district from its beginnings to its decline and change.
