On this 2-hour New York tour in German - it can of course be extended on request - we start with the beginnings of the settlement of Manhattan by the Dutch in 1624. We walk through history in the footsteps of the first European inhabitants through the former New Amsterdam, which was renamed New York in 1664 when it was handed over to the English.
The most important points on this New York city tour are:
Wall Street, Trinity Church, Stock Exchange, Charging Bull, Fearless Girl, Stone Street, Fraunces Tavern, Battery Park, Southsteet Seaport, Broadway, Ground Zero and 9/11 Memorial.
On this walk you will learn, among many other historical anecdotes and details, how Wall Street got its name, how much Manhattan was "bought" for, how it is possible that Pearl Street was originally located on the East River and why the skyscrapers are so close together that you can hardly see the sun. We pass by
Trinity Church, which lay in smoke and ashes at the time when New York became the first capital of America, but soon shone again in its former glory as the tallest building in New York.
to the present day
And to bring things back to the present, we visit Ground Zero, which is located around the corner, with the One World Trade Center and the 9/11 Memorial. There is a lot of background information to tell about this too.
